The Royally-initiated Huaiongkot Development Project lies on the area of 8,152 acres decadent conserved forest. It is located at Somdej Charoen district, Nong Prue Sub-district, Kanchanaburi. The project was set up due to the will of King Bhumibhol Adulyadej. His Majesty planned to develop a better living condition of villagers and at the same time, planned to enable the idea of development and rehabilitation of the ecological system. His Majesty mainly focused on a resource management issue in order to enable the folks to live their normal life in accordance with the eco-friendly system.
The project has been run since August 31st, 1992 by the Chaipattana Foundation, the supporter. Also, the project has been as well supported by other related government sectors such as royal irrigation department, royal forest department, cooperative promotion department, etc. All of the decadent conserved forest which has been trespassed will be taken care of and divided to the villagers to make use of it. To be clear, the land will be divided to each family; 4 acres for living and 32 acres for agriculture.
The aims of the Royally-initiated Huaiongkot Development Project are as follows;
1. To manage the resources and environment in a proper way by dividing land into zones; water resource area, habitat area, workplace area and public amenity area, to make it easier for the forest conservation and restoration plan.
2. To organize and rearrange the community so that people can make use of every single square meter of the area properly and correctly.
3. To promote and support the career in the society to make sure people can rely on themselves and, at the same time, to manage the use of natural resources.
4. To follow the idea of Boworn (Home, Temple, Government and school) in order to boost the economy, community and Thai life style.
How to get there :
Turn right and drive along Highway 3480 for about 20 km
